Future Potential

By moving towards a more renewable resource like Hempcrete, we help transition towards sustainable construction without compromising on quality, comfort or efficiency. This in turn not only supports the manufacturers of these products, but also supports regenerative agriculture by local farmers who grow the Hemp crop.

One such company aiming to encourage local farmers get behind the growing and harvesting of Hemp fibre crops in Ireland, is Connacht Fibre. Based in the West of Ireland in Co. Galway, Connacht Fibre process this Hemp fibre into useable bio materials for use in the construction industry and various other industries. 

The more mainstream the use of Hemp & Hempcrete products become in the Irish construction industry, the more beneficial it is also to the local economy. Farmers growing and harvesting the hemp crop get an extra income stream while the local processors like Connacht Fibre, have a guaranteed outlet for their products.

Current Housing Crisis

With our goverments current planning proposal to increase the size of standalone structures not requiring planning permission to the back of existing dwellings, from 25m² to 45m², many will now hopefully be provided with an opportunity to build their own small 1-2 bedroom home without having to go through a long and sometimes difficult planning process.
